Hi, we have a 6718 s/n 71000, very hard to start, all electrics missing and bonnet, grills etc missing, also she has power steering, but,,, it don't power steer lol,???,
I'd be gratefull for a wiring schematic and info on cold starting and the power steering system, the hydraulics all seem to be a total mess and the brakes are siezed. i think she's been lying parked up for at least 15 yrs.
Guy's, any help u have for me i'll be grateful.

I'd say wreck it for parts. there are plenty of more workable 6718's around for less money than you'll need to get this one running again, and buy the missing parts.

But if you cant get it running, take the fuel injectors out and pour a can of brake fluid on top of the pistons, and let it sit for a week or two. It will free stuck piston rings. Just dont hydrolock it when trying to start it.

When it runs, refresh the oil because brake fluid messes up all lubrication. Then give it a good workout to blow the rest of the trash off the rings.

have you found the cold start button on the injection pump... its a wee spring loaded plunger top left as you look at the side of the pump. will only stick in if the hand throttle is fully open
regarding the electrics ive found it easiest to fit a lucas alternator with built in regulator.. about a fiver from the local scrapyard and rewire from scratch.
is there any oil in the power steering?

Hiya, Yeah there is plenty of oil and the pump is putting up pressure, must be something in the ram to control the steering ???
Ive got her started, but it took a hell of a long time churning her over, didnt know there was a cold start aid on it  but i'll try that durin nex week. cheers for ur help .

What oil do you use in the power steering ? engine or gear oil ? Both are too thick, the power steering valve wont sense the mechanical command properly with too thick oil.
Use Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF 2), like a GM Dexron equivalent. This is really important, with engine or gear oil it just wont work at all.

About the engine, when water and oil are o.k, you need to get it working hard, so the sludge burns out of the engine. At night, this will blow a cloud of sparks, but thats ok. When it burns clean, it will start more easily.

Found the cold start button :D She starts better than my car lol,

Changed the power steerin oil and adjusted the Valve on the steering ram, she steers like brand new.

Found the valve under the seat and blew the seat up!!!!

Now i need to know how i can get a letter of notification to prove that she exist's so as i can get her tax'd for road use. Any one know???
