7245 power steering fluid tank brass fitting question

This is a 7245. I have a leak on my power steering canister. Looks like someone patched it with a weld or something, hard to tell. I purchased a used canister to be put on.

I need to know what fitting I need from my new tank to the one you see that is a nut.


Check out the pictures for reference. Does anyone have a pic of what it looks like without the patch job.

If I was you, what I would do is open off that hydraulic elbow off the old tank in pic 1, and bring that fitting along with the new tank to your local machinery spares shop and tell them you need a fitting with the same hydraulic end and the other end to fit your tank. On my Zetor the steel pipe connects straight to the tank without a bend.

Yes that is exactly what the new one looks like, which is identical to the old one. In the picture it doesnt show but there is a another spot for 3/4 or so hose that connects to a metal pipe . The threaded male you see in the second picture is what needs to connect the elbow in the 1st picture.

Trying to get it sorted today. So I can get back to work without dripping trans fluid all over the place.

i just ordered a new line, apparently the line that is shown in the picture has been altered some way with pipe 3/4" fittings. So it was pay $45 for special fittings or $30 for the part. I opted for the right part.

When you look at pic 1 the hydraulic elbow is looks like it's been fixed to the male fitting on the original steel pipe which itself could a reason it's welded.

Yes your right, whoever owned the tractor before me used what they had laying around to fix the problem by cutting the original part short and welding a pipe fitting to it and somehow connecting back to the tank.

I got the right part and fit on like a charm. Now the massive power steering leak is gone. Still drips power steering fluid from the main line going into the power steering pump where the two copper o rings fit over the pipe. To a big deal but would like for it to stop dripping. My guess is the nut isn't torqued all the way down no making a tight fit of the copper rings need replaced. Any ideas? But for now it will have to do.

copper hardens from work , to soften them you shold heat them upp to a sligth red or replase whit new ones.
