I want to do an oil change on my Zetor 6045 and have already cleaned the centrifugal oil filter and I am seeking to clean the oil pump suction strainer (after first draining the engine oil).

In the operator's manual it says "after draining old oil remove engine housing bottom guard then disassemble oil pump suction strainer and clean in petrol or diesel. Fix duly dried suction strainer back onto the pump, lock it against loosening and put bottom guard on engine housing with sealing compound. Retighten firmly fixing bolts". Is the pump suction strainer easy to identify and disassemble? Is a standard gasket maker compound alright to use as a sealing compound on the bottom guard for the engine housing? Also what does the engine housing bottom guard look like? (as I want to make sure I am removing the correct part - I am pretty sure it is the large rectangular piece that slopes down and it is right in the centre of the engine underneath).

A few people have indicated to me I do not need to bother cleaning the oil pump suction strainer but I do not mind doing it if it is not going to be too difficult. I am therefore keen to read people's views are whether to do it or not as well as any advice on how to do it.

Thanks in advance
David

hi it is not nessesery to clean the strainer butt iff you shuold do it
it is wery easy to recognice, drop bottom snd it will stand out in front end off engine, when reasmbling do not use gasketcompond.use original gasket, compond will over time disolve and plug upp oil canels!!!!
