Brake inspection

Square plate on rear axle facing toward rear of tractor(5211)--Is this an inspection plate for the brakes? Will I mess up a gasket to remove this? If it is an inspection hole, what do I look for? Thanks

The plate on the back is the arestingpoin of the handbrake band, you shold not be able to remove it witout firs removing the halfaxel.

Thanks. I was hoping it was a place to peep in and maybe see something going on with the brake--right side heated up when traveling road speed the other day..
