Looking at buying a 1982 zetor model 6945 [/]with 4600 hours; has KW loader; everything working except right brake pedal; tires very good; very little rust; have sent in bid for $7500 (Canadian funds); best I can find out this tractor is worth 12 to 15K at a dealership; thinking of increasing bid to $8000; any comments on value of this tractor???; need some opinions asap, Thanks, Greg.

I don't know how much that is when converted to UK 's but if it is as good as you say and the price is cheap it must be worth serious consideration. There is a 6945 advertised about 150 miles from me for 1500 at a zetor dealer which sounds very good to me as well. The 6945 is a bit less luxurious than the later models-no synchro on the gearbox and the cab is not as quiet but the rest of it is pretty much the same as a 7045.We had a 6945 as our first Zetor but it was a bit of a dog-we were not Zetor experts at the time! We lost the brakes due to water in the system ;the electrics had been mucked about with so that hardly anything worked and she kept jumping out of gear.It was fixed under guarantee but the problem came back after a couple of years. This was caused by the strainer tube in the fuel filler neck coming off causing fuel to splash out of the cap and find it's way onto the tank's rubber mounts. They went soft causing the fuel tank to move about and wear out the gear selectors!! We bought 3 more Zetors afterwards and gave up on Massey Fergusons so it must have made a good impression.

Crystalman; thanks for the reply; bids got up to $8500 Canadian; thats when I bowed out; was worried that it might give me problems & was a bit more than I needed for a tractor; have hobby farm & cut some firewood; funny that you mention you left the Massey Furguson scene!!; thats what I bought!, a 1968 M35 in great shape with a snowblower, scraper blade, loader, wagon & chains for $6200; heard that they were reliable & easy to work on; all for now, Greg.

Hey Crystalman, our 6718 had the same problem... it wore out a seeger ring that holds the toothed ring of the 5th gear...

someone had been in there before, it was tack welded back into place. We had to take out one gear of the PTO 540/1000 gears out on top, and one on the bottom panel. it was quite a puzzle, for just a 5 cent ring...:sneaky:

And off course, 4 new fuel tank mounting rubbers. ;)4

Oh, and Greg.. I hope you didn't buy a diesel with the Standard motor co. 4 cylinder engine ?????

I still have an early1965 MF 135 on the yard scraper-nothing scrapes s*** like a Massey!!! They have a fast reverse gear ideal for yard scraping but absolutely useless for anything else.I wouldn't mind changing the 135 for a 5011 but it would be too good to use!
I did our grass turning for the silage with the 135 this year.It only ran on 2 1/2 cylinders for about an hour and then suddenly it started running clean and the governors started working. It had only been used for 10 minutes at a time on the scraper for over 20 years so it needed the cobwebs blowing out!
