I have a 1989 6245. I'm having the usual problems with fuel delivery. It died on me while plowing snow. I was going up a steep hill when it happened. Wife had to tow me home with the F250. I don't want to deal with these fuel problems anymore. I just put all new fuel lines on it and it run fine for awhile. Then it started getting harder to start in the cold and began starving for fuel when under a load. The glass bowl would only fill to about 3/4 of the way full. I pulled the lift pump off and realized the threads are totally stripped out of the housing where the fitting connects to the fuel bowl. The fitting is good but the housing is stripped. I figure it was probably sucking air. Then I took the pump apart and discovered the little piston was scored as well as the bore. The new pump is about $550.00. I want to fabricate a block-off plate and install an electric pump. I'm concerned about which pump to use. Do you cut the banjo's off and splice the fuel lines together, or does somebody make some kind of union block? I hate to cut brand new lines. Can I mount the pump where the old one was located, or do I have to move it closer to the tank? What should I do with the return line? What is a good quality name brand? I would greatly appreciate any help . I am not real familiar with the electric pumps. I believe I need about 10 lbs of pressure. Thank you in advance.

A new liftpump should not be more than 75$ however an electrical pump need to have a pressure of 8-10 PSI. The bypass valve in the injection pump open at about 5 PSI. Have you changed the hoses from the injectors to the pump? I did all you describing with little success and almost went mad until I got in contact with a Finnish Zetor guru who solved the problem for me. Please read my topic

The link is in Swedish however the pictures can give some guidlines. Now allmost a year later it still works, no air in the system . In this forum I have a feeling that it is a blasphemy to solve the problem this way but it works.
I have used the tractor mowing a lot of snow this winter with no stop what so ever even if I need blockheater to get i start in minus 5 or below. Zetor is not the only tractor some Valmets has even bigger fuel -feeding problems.
There is som topics in this forum discussing electrical lift-pump that you can search.

I dont know why you would feel about it this way, but some people have said that fixing the leaks is a better way... Which is off course theoretically correct. :)

I just have my doubts about the fuel temperature, when reading engine installation data, manufacturers allways show heat rejection to fuel return flow... Dont know how exactly this thing works, but if it doesnt recirculate back to the tank, the fuel temperature in the loop between engine, pump, injector leak lines and this contraption, may warm up which may cause deposits on the injectors... I'm not sure it actually has any negative effects in the first place, but to me it seems that manufacturers state heat rejection to fuel return flow for a reason ??

Anyways, air bubbles in the fuel will most probably have an even worse effect on the fuel pump and injectors, than warm fuel...

Thank You Renze
The heat was also my concern but after talking to Bengt-Erik at Moto Check who was the one coming up with the idea and having rebuilt many many system, it should not be a problem as he said. I cant hardly feel any different temperature of the fuel coming from the tank and returning from the pump even in the summer.
I will help a friend rebuilding a 6245 using the system with the electrical lift-pump and than I can compare (all spare parts purchased) . I just wait for a bit higher outside temperature. When it is done I can come back with some pictures if any interest.
To me the glass bowel has been a source for air-leakage that I never succeed to solve. In my gravity fed 4718 it was not a problem but in a suction system it seems to be.

I ordered a new pump this morning. I talked to someone different at the Zetor Dealer. This time they told me 245.00. I am guessing they quoted me a price on the wrong part the first time. I ordered it and have to wait about four days because its coming from Florida. I'll let you know what I figure out. Thanks for all the information. I am very greatful, thankyou.

i hope thats not the price for just the lift pump!?
