I have a 6211 in which I'm trying to use to disc my pasture with. I put it in "D" and lowered the disc, but the disc just rides on top of the ground. Should I also close the hydraulic control valve or is there something else wrong?

The rest of the hydraulics work fine and are very solid (no slipping or hesitation).

Hi Dusty,

It depends on what type of discs you have. Fully mounted on the tractor linkage or trailed on the drawbar.
If they're fully mounted try using them on the "M" position and put your lift lever right down.
If they're trailed with hydraulic operated depth wheels use them with the spool lever in the float (yellow section) position.
Failing all this it could be the pasture is just too hard for the discs to penetrate.

Good Luck

Mike

They are fully mounted, Mike. The ground is not too hard, we've had recent rain and my neighbor doesn't have a problem with his tractor (it is much bigger).

I tried the M several weeks ago and got the same results.

Thanks for the advice.

Suuggest you start with basics. Is ground too hard ? have you enough travel on lower link arms- lengthen lift links if not. Don't push control lever all the way down, some zetor hydraulics lift a little during the last 25 mm of travel.
If these are OK then try without the top link- it has been known for the top link sensor to be out of adjustment for some reason.
Hope this helps, Dave

Put a big log or something on the discs to weigh it down, then it will work;)

the disc gang angle has an effect as well .... if the dics are parallel to the direction of travel they will ride on top . the bigger the angle the greater the penetration. each gang of discs should be on a pivot to enable adjustment.

but check your link arms will go low enough and that your not pushing the lever past max lower into gentle lift for weight transfer to aid traction.

also bear in mind old grass pasture is difficult to penetrate with discs, might need a tined cultivator first to break the surface a bit, or plough it.
