Hi,
I think that my 9641 does not have all the horsepower it should have.
The tractor struggels when driving slightly uphill. The reason I think it lacks power because fuel consumption never exceeds more than 7,5 liters/hour. And that is pushtion it to the limit of its capabilities.
I cannot get the exhaust to smoke, exepts when I start her up in the morning.
Ideas appreciated.

when you drive uphill how many rpm does it go down from 2300 with cold oil i would say you shouldnt drop below 1900 and with warm not under 2000 rpm. thats with only the tractor with or without a loader. my 135 forterra doesent use 7,5 liters pr hour but it pulls like a beast, so that shouldent be a problem. what is the model year on your tractor ?

does it get fuel to the pump ?
Is the throttle linkage jammed somewhere ?
Do these models have a turbo pressure sensor that releases full fuel quantity only when the turbo has pressure ? sometimes it just has a loose wire of the turbo pressure sensor.

Yes it gets fuel to the pump. Nothing jammed in the throttle linkage. I already replaced all the fuel lines and fitted a different fuel filter (CAV type with the glass bowls underneath) because at first i thought the problem was the fuel filter (system altogether).
Even tried an electric feed pump no improvement.
As for the turbo. Its a simple set up with no waste gate involved nor electrical lines or switches.
There is only a tube which connects the inlet manifold with the fuel pump. To increase the fuel when the turbo builds up pressure. All those lines, tubes etc are ok no leaks to cracks.
Ah and its a 2007 build no EURO type on the registration papers.
When you drive the empty tractor no prob even with the loader attached ( A Quicke 55 ).
When I hook up my container hook system thats another story.
Its a Peecon 13000 btw (set up tractor and hook + loader empty totals 11000kg
Maybe I need a bigger tractor :D

its nothing wrong with your tractor the engines just too small.... especially if you got som hills to climb :p

You can turn it up a bit. Does it have the water jacket intercooler like the 10540 to 11441 had ? Im not sure if the 95 and 96 had it as standard.

What happens if you pressurise that air line to the fuel pump with a compressor, and then hit the throttle ? Do you get a puff of smoke then, when the turbo hasnt built up pressure yet ?

Forgot to mention that.
No it lacks a intercooler at all. Maybe I can add one and give it a bit more fuel .
I like forterra 11411 s solution "Buy BIGGER" just needs convincing the wife ???

do you hate downshifting that much ? We pull 10 ton dump trailers with a 5718.... :)

Renze you live in a flat country you know, have you tried 10 tons of dump trailer on 5718 where i live you wouldnt have got wery far and it would hve taken a LOOOOOOOONG time to get there :p probably in the reduced gears most of the time :p

Also think insurance companies here would have a problem with the weight of the horse / weight of cart ratio.
9641 is much the same as my 9540. Will die before it will put out black smoke, you will be ready for bed when the fuel tank is empty. I opened my fuel supply 1/2 a turn when I bought 4 score plough and 1600 gallon tanker and made a noticeable difference to power with out affecting fuel consumption a lot. May get you by until the wife allows you to upgrade....

ya i have a 9540 to . i took pump of and got it recon and turned up . it still does not feel like a 95hp tractor . would take back my crystal in morning..

Your Crystal was a 25 or 30kmh gearbox, and the 9540 is 40kmh... When we changed the 32" rears of our 4712 for the 36" of the 5718 which was in the shop at that time, to haul straw from an arable area 50km from here, it took way longer to get the same tonnage up to speed... People underestimate how much power it takes to bring a certain amount of weight at speed on Ag tires...

Well I dont mind shifting up/down but zetor isnt a speedy shifter.
So more speed loss in going uphill. I know it is a no nonsense traktor and it is a strong field machine but shifting is

:(
I already broke a shift knob (the black one with the yellow shift buttons) when trying to do a quick gear change. Pricy bugger that shift knob.
Honestly it is a poor design. They have almost cut the knob in half to put a stupid back lid on it. It has to break eventualy.
This year I am going to change this whole 2 stick forward /reverse shift gear changeing set up.
This is not very user friendly. For example when I am mowing gras for hay making I usualy drive in 1st High gear. When you reach the end of the field I have to change from foreward to reverse (red stich) go down 2 powershifts (on the black) change again from reverse to foreward and back to the black to upshift again.
I am going to put in 2 of the new version gearknobs with the side buttons, one on each stick.
Now when I come to the end of the field I can change from foreward to reverse and down and upshift with the same stick.
Its just a simple paralel wire connection of the switches underneath.

Good idea usualy with those gear knobs when they break i use to cut a i think inch and quarter milking parlour stainless pipe in half. Then put the broken half on to one end and rap the other end around the reamaining piece of plastic on the gear lever and then just tape up all in all i usaly extend the lever by about 5 inches as i think they are just to short. Also i usualy reinforce the bottom of those levers as the pipe that the lever is made out of is a little light

hi renze our 9540 is a 35km . but to fair to the tractor it has a full set of weights on the front . full set of weights on the back rims and a quicky 430 loader fitted so say its pulling around a extra 1500kgs all the time. must stick it on a dyno tester just to see

Well I opened the fuel supply half a turn. I did not feal that much different. So I opened I some more to a full turn know.
It feels more alive now. It still is smoke free when I drive it uphill. I run the flail mower today. Pulled it beter, no smoke.
I think I have some turns left :)

On your gear stick gripe. I modified my shuttle to a left hand steering wheel stalk. The stalk sends a electric signal to a regulator which diverts air to a ram mounted on shuttle gear leaver, moving it back or forward. Had the ram made to measure so as the stroke never rests on a selector and suplies 20kg of power, so is not strong enough to do damage. Great job for a reversable plough. Have sold the tractor so will be removing the kit If you interested in purchase.
