Hi all, my seat just sits on the top of the gearbox and has no springing at all. I believe it's because the gas has all leaked out of the set strut. Does anyone know where to get a replacement or can they be re-gassed or reconditioned? I've found something similar for 25 or so but don't know if it'll stand up to 80+ kilos bouncing up and down on it for hours across the fields!
Best regards,
Phil H

its not a gas strut, its a shock absorber.

The actual spring is an air bellow under the seat. Maybe just inflating it a bit, will do the trick. It has the same inflation valve as any tire, so you can fill it with a tire inflator.

Thanks for the reply Dave but it really is a gas strut. I've got a picture if I can find out how to send it! It's 9.5 inches long collapsed and 12.5 inches extended and acts as a spring in compression and a damper in the other direction. The problem seems to be that there's no gas under the piston and I can't see how to gas it up. As I've taken it off now I'll try and dismantle it (keeping my head well out of the way!) and see what's what. It has a body 1.25 inches diameter and is painted Zetor gold. It's attached to the seat sliding unit and the seat base and looks like original equipment and not an after-market addition or a non-Zetor seat. I looked at other 6718s at Roy Perfect's place in Penrith and they were all the same as mine - collapsed. There does seem to be a niche for an replacement item to restore seat springing comfort.
Best wishes,
Phil Hughes
