We bought our 6441 new almost 2 years ago. It has been through cold and hot weather cycles and only now has the glow plug warning light(?) begun to flash on start up. Can anyone please tell me what this might mean? We haven't received a whole lot of help from our local dealer, imagine that...it's still under warranty! He says it's due to the temperature chenge, no problems???.

Thanks so much,
Shannon

Glow plug is there to heat up the intake manifold. the light will stay on for a short period and then go off. the idea is to stop the engine winding on the starter too much warm air in the manifold is far easier to combust than cold air making the engine start faster. your light may have started to no show due to a faulty real:sneaky: i would doubt that it is due to the weather temperatures! glow plugs even come on in the hottest weather. ( does your dealer have any idea what he was on about)? BUT it is nothing to worry about. we have an iveco lorry that the light comes on before starting and if cold it will stay on for a short period whilst running.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply Matthew! What the light is doing is flashing repeatedly on and off like an error code in a vehicle. I didn't know if the light on the tractor had the same capacity as the check engine light on my truck.? I should have made that more clear. Sorry!

it sounds like you have a faulty relay. they are quick and easy to replace;)

Hi Shannon,

The light is flashing to indicate you have a problem with the heatstart system. Check the fuse under the plastic cover for the glow plugs (It is in the front end of the bonnet). The light will flash when there is a bad connection on the wires to the control box for the glowplugs. If all seems okay then make sure the glow plugs are okay. If still no luck then it must be a faulty control box.

Regards

Mike
