Help !!! Zetor 7245 gearbox problem

My friend has a problem with the gearbox of his zetor 7245. He had a problem with 'double-shifting', partially solved that- he found first but then lost reverse. The top of the transmission got taken off. There is a short shaft mounted in side of the gearbox casting which was making a bit of noise, had a fair bit of play in, and had the edges worn off the teeth of the two gears which are mounted on it. To get these out we assumed you had to remove the top gearbox shaft, so split the tractor and took off the plate inside the bellhousing. The problem now is that we think the top shaft splits behind the first bearing mounting, but can't quite work out how. We presume you have to split it here because we can't budge the bearing on the shaft and it won't clear the 2nd cog on the bottom shaft to pull it forward and out. What do we do about this? and what do we do about the short shaft? seem to be able to slide it back a bit after removing bolt but needed top shaft cogs out of the way, or so we think. HELP !

To get there, you need to take out the PTO gears first. One gear goes through the top lid and the other goes through the lower window.

With double shifting you dont need to take any gears apart, it's a problem of the gear selector lever. Install a 15 Euro modification kit (your dealer shoudl be able to get you one) to cure it once and for all while you have the cover off anyways.
