Hi John,
Sounds like the short drive shaft to your hydraulic pump has gone,
it could also be the tripod in the clutch unit.
If your torque & PTO are still working, the tripod is OK, and your pump driveshaft is gone, if they are gone as well as your hydraulics, then your tripod or hollow shaft are the problem.
Either way, it looks like you will have to split the tractor to repair

Just in from the workshop,the clutch pressure plate was my first diagnosis but after splitting the tractor discovered this wasnt the problem,the splines on the hollow shaft inside the intermediate box were completely worn down,,you were spot on..!!!

Thats the beauty of these tractors, not too much to go wrong & easy to repair when they do.
This is a fairly common thing on Ur2s especially ones that do a lot of PTO work.
If you still have the tractor split, check the hub that the hollow shaft is driving (@ the gearbox end) & make sure the splines here are OK, also check the lubrication pipe.
You don't want to be splitting it again !

Not quite sure what you mean ???, but if you are talking about the hollow shaft, then the answer in no.
This can only be removed by splitting @ the bellhousing, it can be a struggle to pull the hollow shaft from the hub, especially when the splines are badly worn. The shaft can lock into the hub, and be a pig to remove.
The hub can only be removed by splitting just ahead of the torque housing, and then stripping the 540/1000 PTO gearing which is on the back wall of the bellhousing.

Parts time....im told that the hollow shaft for 4 cyl tractors is smaller than for the 6 cyl ??? Do you know if there is only one type of shaft for the 6 cyl,,as i was looking at a new one today and it has some minor differences to mine,i think it was for an Ursus ......
Not so sure about the 6 cyl ones, but I know that there are different ones in the 4 cyl tractors.
There is a difference @ the gearbox end of the shaft, depending on whether or not the tractor has an oil feed to the hollow shaft.
The early type shaft is slightly shorter and cannot be replaced by the newer type shaft without some mods.
It is important that you get the correct shaft as you may suffer oil leaks from between the 2 shafts if you fit the wrong one.
