gday everyone im from australia and have recently inherrited a 8011 anyway trying to source parts for this old thing around here can be difficult at times, doable but difficult, but i have just been talking to a relative that just so happens to be living in prague and he offered to source parts from over there for me and send them back, as these tractors were built over there this seems like a wonderful solution.

but the question is will it be worth it, will the parts be cheaper and or better quality by the time i ship them over to Australia than thier australian counterparts?

The parts situation for Zetor in Australia is good. Zetor Direct at Echuca, Country Tractor Service at Walwa, the Strohfield Group in Queensland plus other sellers through ebay. There is no problem sourcing genuine parts which are usually cheaper than the few locally made parts available. The tractors did have some local content. The cabins on most of the 8011's were from Gason in Ararat, the air filters are Donaldson and the air conditioners are local. The big roller drawbars were also locally made. I have run Zetor since 1976 and have never had problems sourcing genuine parts which are usually very reasonable in cost. If parts are not in stock in Australia they are sourced from the Czech Republic in about two weeks. Try Zetor Direct.

thx for the reply i have been meanign to try zetor direct, just because every time i walk into david evans for parts they look at me sideways "you want parts for what?" sorta thing and tell me i have not a chance in hell in getting that "part"

Hi I have found the parts from O/S easy to source and they are about a third the cost of here in Oz. Even with the high cost of postage.

If you are sure of what you want and you've got the parts numbers right, imported parts will be cheaper. But there are advantages in supporting local suppliers who wear the cost of keeping a large local stock. I can ring Zetor Direct at lunchtime and the part is at our farm the next day. There is also an advantage in dealing with someone who knows the tractor. For example the power steering on the 6745 stopped working. I rang up about a new pump but the guy said no, probably the geared bush behind it and sure enough it was. Saved me a lot of money.

I am in Australia also, and mainly use Sparex parts ordered through my local dealer, usually available overnight. Sparex has most parts for Zetors, and are as good, if not better quality than genuine. David Evans should be able to source Sparex.

Firms like Sparex have a few fast moving parts but that's a long way from a comprehensive parts supply which has thousands of slow moving parts in stock.
