We've adjusted injection timing (on an old mcCormick) by loosening 3 bolts (in slot holes) that connect fuel pump with distribution drive, take a pipe wrench and turn the pump untill ye can hear it runs fine. too early as well as too late makes a bad sound. This is done with the engine at about 1000 rpm. that worked for us...
