My block heater is no longer working. Has any one changed out theirs. Is is just a matter of unscrewing it and putting in a new one or is it a dealer operation to replace?

Appreciate any expertise on how to replace my block heater on a 1991 7745.

Not sure why the block heater went, it was working fine and she started fine last winter. Now there is lots of white smoke and it seems to start on one cylinder then another until she finally starts. It isn't even below zero yet.

I now block heater isn't working because I used to hear it when I plugged it in. Now there is nothing sound wise.

Well I guess everyone but me new this was a no brainer job since I did not get a reply.

Probably the easiest repair you'll ever have to do. Just need a screw driver and steady hand. Empty out some coolant first then there is a screw that anchors the unit in place, just loosen and pop it out. Takes some patience as its probably like mine and stuck in there pretty good.

Just be cautious putting in the new unit with the o-ring. Make sure the O-ring is properly seated before tightening or else you damage it and need a new one. New grease helps pop the o-ring and unit right into place.
