Hello all. I have a Major 80 with 980 hrs on it. I just purchased this tractor, and it looks like the PTO has not been used or used very little. The PTO clutch is stuck. When I have someone move the lever inside the cab the arm on the transmission moves very little. I have tried penetrating oil where the shaft goes into the transmission. Tried engaging the PTO with the lever up while hooked up to a 10' rotary mower. I have adjusted the clutch cable to take out the play but can't get it to release. Any suggestions?

Based on your description, I would think that you have no choice but to take a closer look at the clutch. It could be that it is sticking or rusty.
Photos of the tractor would be nice - but text is always so "dry".
