Mower/flail for a 5711?

Hi,
Could anyone tell me the largest width mower I could use behind my 5711 please? I`d like to get a flail as the field I`ll cut has some broom in it and other saplings up to an inch across or more.Any advice appreciated.

5 or 6 feet WIDE will be ok I think you should get a rotary cutter with chains because flails dont cut that good

Thanks for that info. A freind of mine has a chain flail and its a good bit of kit.I`m not really worried about a neat finish,I would prefer somthing with as wide a cut as possible that I wont trash by going over the odd small tree with-thats why I thought a flail would be good? Do they use that much more power then?

They dont need as much power.... the problem is getting it to turn fast enough You will find that you need to rev the tractor quite a bit to cut things at a ( resonable) forward speed 1000rpm pto on the tractor is recomended.

If you need to turn it that fast, you need to sharpen your blades.

Eeehhhhh??? i am talking about flails renze! The type with the hammer on a chain. You know? It wacks things a bit like a hedge cutter
