Hi,
Could anyone tell me the largest width mower I could use behind my 5711 please? I`d like to get a flail as the field I`ll cut has some broom in it and other saplings up to an inch across or more.Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

5 or 6 feet WIDE will be ok;) I think you should get a rotary cutter with chains because flails dont cut that good:sneaky:

Thanks for that info. A freind of mine has a chain flail and its a good bit of kit.I`m not really worried about a neat finish,I would prefer somthing with as wide a cut as possible that I wont trash by going over the odd small tree with-thats why I thought a flail would be good? Do they use that much more power then?
Thanks.

They dont need as much power.... the problem is getting it to turn fast enough:sneaky: You will find that you need to rev the tractor quite a bit to cut things at a ( resonable) forward speed 1000rpm pto on the tractor is recomended.

If you need to turn it that fast, you need to sharpen your blades.

Eeehhhhh??? i am talking about flails renze! The type with the hammer on a chain. You know? It wacks things a bit like a hedge cutter;)
