You can just make it work very hard for a month or two, but an easier and better solution is this:
take the injectors out and spread a can of brake fluid (DOT4) over the four pistons. Then let it sit for a week or two, then crank the engine over so the excess of brake fluid flies out, use a rag to catch the brake fluid as it will not only eat the soot off the piston rings, but also paint off the metal. When the excess fluid is out, put the injectors back in and start it: just let it idle for a few minutes, then shut it down and change the oil (brake fluid takes away the lubrication properties of the engine oil too so dont rev it or make it work, just let it warm up a little)
Its important to remove excess fluid on top of the pistons because it is incompressible: If its full of water it might bend a connecting rod. But all the fluid may have seeped along the piston and piston rings to the sump.
After you changed the oil, put it in front of a slurry agitator, the bigger the better. Just watch the temperature of the engine. then it will burn away the last remains of soot in the ring grooves.
