oil selection help for your Zetor

I am reposting this link as the last post disappeared. Here is a link to help you choose the right grade of oil for your zetor , it even tells you volumes required. I have no affiliation with the company, just frustrated that I get so many opinions on what oil to use where.

The second link gas some useful cross references.

The first link shows my 7045 using a GL-5 oil in the gear box. My understanding is that GL-4 should be used.

GL-5 should be kept away from bronze/ brass working components according to advice I have had from several oil company technical staff over the years.

Some of the new GL-5 oils claim not to use the Sulpur/Phosphorous additives that attack the syncros and bushes and some claim they use buffers to reduce this.
I hear the aim was to have one oil ( GL-4 / GL-5 ) to use in all, but this position is not accepted by many manufacturers. Various claims are made.

Some trucks have gone to using motor oil in the gearbox and one of the reasons I have seen given was to avoid GL-5 additives from pitting the syncros and bushes.

Valvoline for example recommends a GL-4 ( FarmPlus Hydra Trans ) for my 7045 gearbox. The syncros are not the best anyway so perhaps GL-5 has been used in the past.

I am keen to hear of any comments on syncro or bush damage wear with other than GL-4.

I'll be interested to see what turns up about this Bob, I have seen articles both ways. Perhaps some gl-5 oils are safe with yellow metal? FWIW, I had advice that the Agri MP Plus could also be used in the transmission and it was reassuring to see the description say it could be used in transmission and so I will continue to do so.
