I have had a power steering leak in the hydraulic cylinder for some time and just installed a kit to stop the leak. Now the cylinder is not leaking but the block at the end where the other line is located is leaking in two places. There was not a noticable leak before but now it is bad! Anyone have any experience adjusting the power steering (from right to left) and stopping leaks?

Hi

The leak is either the union where it screws through the block or an 'O' ring at the front of the rod down the centre of the ram piston. Screw the chrome piston off the block to get to it.
The piston has to be adjusted to get even steering both ways. Jack it up, start the engine on tickover and adjust it slightly one way or the other until it is even and the steering wheel doesn't spin on its own. A starting point is quite often about 2mm between the piston and the back block. It's trial and error to get it right and doesn't need moving much to make a difference. Be careful not to get trapped when the steering moves.

There was no "O" ring on the inner tube and one on the outer tube that was replaced had broken. We put an "O" ring on the inner tube where it screws into the block and replaced the other "O" ring. Adjusted the outer tube to about 2MM and now there are NO leaks and the pressure is equal with NO pull to right or left. Mike, thanks you very much for providing the answer to the problem. Dale
