I've just got an old Twose back actor digger that I intend to use for ditching on my new 25 acres of marsh. i.e. no heavy digging it's all peat & soft clay. It runs from tractor hydraulics (no pump or tank) & probably weighs around 1/2 - 3/4 ton. Good length on the dipper & boom which look to be standard 4inch box sections.
Only problem is I don't have a tractor yet ! Wife thinks I'm mad, but all in good time... I'm fancying one of the lighter Zetors like a 3045 or 3545 due to the boggy nature of the ground.
Would a 3045 or 3545 be enough machine to run this digger? Its currently on an universal back axle mount, but I reckon changing it to a 3 point mount would be better? I notice a modern Mcconnel backactor needs 22 litres/min so I suppose the smaller Twose would be less? Would the Zetor hydraulics be sufficient to run it.
Would a 3045/3545 cope with cutting rushes? I can get a contractor to flail them down (haven't been touched for 10 years but we did 12 acres this year), so I 'd just then need to cut them with my own machine once or twice a year - any recommendations?
