Starting problem 7745

My 7745 won't start. I thought it was a dead battery, so charged it up, but still won't crank. I noticed that when I first put the key in, the guages were activitated and the oil pressure light came on. The starter barely turned. Then on subsequent tries, no guages or lights on most tries, but occasionaly they would activate. (every 3-5 tries). The battery seemed to have power.

My son said earlier he tried to start it and got no power. He took the key out, re-inserted it, and it started just fine.

Do I have an ignition switch problem? Any ideas?

Cross the solenoid. If it starts, it appears you have a problem with the ignition switch or its wiring.

Try the earth connection where it connects under the cab and on the bell housing.

What was found to be the cause of this starting issue? I am having the same problem. 92 model 7745.
