I have a 5245 and I have problems with starting sometimes it just starts no problem but it will not start most of the time seems like everything comes on with the key but when you push the button nothing does anyone have an idea as to what this could be

clean all connection on Battery and ground . check wiring on the selenoid starter.
Put the trans in neutral and make a direct test to the starter . Jump the small wire on selenoide with 12 volt . If not start , Jump the two big wire on starter . If starter run , you have a bad selenoide . if the starter do not run , you have a bad starter.

When I rewired my 4718 any ignition wire with a join seemed to give trouble regadless of how good the join seemed to be.

Might just be someting to keep in mind.

5245 ...could be the safety switch on the clutch pedal ..or the push button could have welded tips unscrew and clean with a sharp little screw driver check that all the screws tight on both all the switchs inc the ignition switch ...

hi ,if solonoid same as older ones it may be stuck ,give the starter a firm tap with a hammer where the soloniod is mounted on the starter ,some where on the site is an article about unsouldering the ignition wire off the solonoid and putting some brazing on the contacts inside to cure the problem.
