Hi I have a 5945 and I am expecting my tractor has a leaking headgasket as there is steam comming from breather, but after reading some threads it is possible I might have a leaky frost plug? It uses some water and has no coolant yet as I want to sort this issue first, It starts steaming when it gets to normal temp around 80 degrees. Just putting it out there to see if someone has had same fault????

You sure its from the breather ?
If its from the breather and its steam (water vapor, not oil vapor) it must be a headgasket, the 9 series engines didnt have a frost plug between head and block, but the block casting was modified so this channel could act as a coolant passange too.
Does it loose water at all ? if not it must be oil and the piston rings would be bad.

Yea uses water and has clear drips with small amount of oil residue as well. It's good to know there are no frost plugs but sad that the gaskets are leaking, what's the best way to check which one or how many need replacing? It happened after I purchased a new radiator cap and gave it a good run and the hose off the pump to the radiator blew.

gasket at the dealer is about 15 euro per cylinder (i havent bought them at the dealer in ages) and skimming the head and polishing the valve seats is about 50 euro per cylinder.
Skimming the head is standard procedure when replacing a head gasket and polishing valves and seats used to be 3 euro per valve, so doing that while its open, is a good insurance policy.
