Hi All. I need some help on an old Zetor 5211. Could anyone advise me on the correct pressure plate adjustment. My neighbour has put in a refurbished pressure plate and purchases a complete new clutch assembly. I wasn't happy about the pressure plate adjustment even though he had be told it was preset. As a result it doesn't work, major grinding. The questions are as follows.
1. What is the correct pressure plate adjustment?
2. Do we have to split the tractor again to correctly adjust the pressure plate?
I look forward to any help

Did he put the drive plate in the correct way around?

Thanks for the reply. Yes everything was correctly assembled it is just the adjustment of the pressure plate I am unsure of. All external clutch adjustment is straight forward but if the pressure plate is incorrectly adjusted, which I believe it is, then we are going nowhere fast.

Check the three fingers through the insection plate on the left hand side of the bell housing, they should be all equal, if correct main drive plate has been installed wrong way round! (Drive boss towards flywheel) a easy mistake to make & very often done! Drive boss makes contact with flywheel fixing bolts & causes gear grinding

To do it correctly you have to split it. As a rough guide you should be able to slide a 10mm open ended spanner between the release lever and the clutch cover.

Thanks Mike and Alan. I am sure the assembly is correct but I will double check to make sure. Secondly I will split the tractor and check for correct pressure plate adjustment, this is what I think the problem is. Thanks again for your help and I will update you after this next weekend.

By the way Mike, not sure which part of eastern England you are from but I hail from Colchester. Been in Australia since 2005 after 20 years in NZ.
