Hello I've recently bought a older zetor 5211. And am trying to get it to crank. I am fairly new to the tractor diesel world but I'm pretty good mechanic on gas engines ( at least I think so . ) But I was told before I attempt to crank it it is VERY critical I replace ALL filters. My partner is telling me they .Ade washable filters on those older tractors. Was wanting to get some other input . Any suggestions?

Hello Naudia,
the engine oil filtres are on the right engine side placed as a double filtre. Original they are washable but have attantion on the markes "I" and "II" - dont mix them. The one sives have a finer siev as the others.
On the other side its possible to replace them with modern cardrige filtres, like I explained here:

If you want to use the old sieve plate filters again:
- wash them out thoroughly so that the dirt comes out
- be careful not to mix I and II and to install I in filter bell 1 and II in filter bell 2
- you need 6 new rubber rings 2x 93-1102, 2x93-1105 and 2x93-1109 as well as at least 2 new copper rings 20x26 mm
- fill the filter bells with fresh engine oil before assembly
- before starting for the first time, first take your foot off the gas (OFF) and only let the starter motor turn. 2x 5 seconds, then start.
You should use an engine oil according to SAE 10W-30 API CB or CC. More modern oils such as a standard SAE 15W-40 API CJ have too many additives, so the old sieve plate filters can no longer remove the dirt.
