Zetor 5211 shifter boot

Dust boot that goes on shift lever..to replace it and install it correctly looks like the shift lever spring cotter pin and washer needs removed..how on earth do you compress the spring ? Thanks

With a great degree of difficulty, I used a long prybar to push it down. Good luck!!

Thanks I think I will just let it ride high and extend the bottom to go thru the floorboard somehow..
