Hi guys. A new owner of an old Zetor here! I'm figuring it out with the help of a Czech translated into English handbook . Can anyone tell me how to connect the airline to the compressor outlet? That is, where is the outlet connection - I can't see it! Thanks, Ken
 
There is a round pot with a breast-shaped lower end ;) about a foot behind the air compressor, towards the cab. attach it to the nipple and there you go...
 
Heh heh it's not even remotely breast shaped ??? - more like an upside-down bottle of Amstel beer ;) Mind you it is a long time since I've been in the Netherlands, perhaps the ladies there have evolved since then ;)

On my tractor at least, this pot - some kind of water seperator - is mounted just behind the dipstick. Mine has a 90 degree knuckle on the bottom with a half-inch pipe thread end. I simply screwed an airline quick-connector to that.

If your tractor is missing the separator pot, try following the 'raw' output from the compressor and see where it goes. The outlet pipe comes out from the front of the compressor cylinder head. My neighbours tractor has lost the separator pot, and his airline is connected directly to this pipe.

Be aware that the separator pot doesn't appear to include a pressure regulator (unless mine is faulty?) and of course there is no reservoir unless you have the air brake stuff fitted, so care is needed when using the airline - pressure can build up to scary levels in seconds if you don't keep letting it out :eek:

The compressor on my tractor has been exceptionally useful. In fact I last used it only yesterday, when I got to the field and discovered that I had a soggy tyre on my forage harvester.

O.K. Jean-Paul but then its an Amstel bottle without a neck... And it depends in what position you look at it... ;)
 
I have a compressor on my 8011 but have not fitted the regulator or resevoir (tank). It is dangerous as the presure builds rapidly and will blow the hose off in seconds if you don't release the air pressure.

In fact where is the regulator? The output pipe from the compressor goes to a water trap. My compressor came from a 12011 and I have all the bits except one which I thought was to do with the air brakes and could not get off easily. Mabe this is the bit I need?

p.s. I must check out what an Amstel bottle looks like!


 
Thanks for the posts about the compressor outlet guys. I never knew tractor guys knew so much abour beer bottles, nipples and the like!

One other query. Is it OK to top up the gearbox with engine oil?

I hope so! That's what I use in mine :D

I used to use universal tractor oil, but now I've got Delvac straight 30-weight engine oil in there. My local Zetor dealer advised me to use 15-40 engine oil everywhere basically.

I went to the UTO because it was cheaper, then to the straight 30 as my rather tired engine seems to prefer it. Using it in the transmission / hydraulics saves having to buy more oil (oh dear, that's womens' logic ;) )

It doesn't appear to have done any obvious harm. The arms still go up and down and the wheels still go round...

Come to think of it though the lift piston seals are starting to give up - perhaps I have dissolved them with my diesel engine oil...



Edited to add - my owners' manual shows the pressure regulator fitted inline between the Amstel Bottle Breast and the reservoir. According to the same source the ABB contains a filter element that should be renewed every 480 hours!
 
Thanks Artic for the advice re using engine oil. I figured it would be OK especially now the tractor is long in the tooth. Ken.
 
Um... that wasn't advice :cool: I was merely informing you that I use engine oil in my hydraulics / gearbox too, and the wheels still go round... at least up till now :D

PS Oh yeah, and the same stuff seems to work in the power steering and fuel pump... :) Don't take this as advice though - your tractor may be more sensitive!


 
Engine oil in powersteering uh ?? You must like going to the gym... ;)

Just try ATF II automatic transmission fluid in the powersteering and tell me if you can notice any difference ;)
