Zetor 6245 Brakes Question

Hi All

I have a farmer living next door who has a Zetor 6245 with Shuttle.

What the Shuttle is I don't know, but I've been ask to find out some details on the brakes for him.

This week he changed the brake shoes, looked like a big job to me all things considered.

He has put it all back to gether and it still feels like the brakes are a little woodern.

So now to the question I've been asked.are the breaks?

Air breaks?
Fluid (hydraulic)?
Or both ?

If any indication of where to bleed these are available could someone point me in the right directoin so that i can print them of for him.

Dan,
The shuttle is gearbox addition that gives foreward/ reverse on a seperate lever. It uses the 540/1000 pto lever hole so shuttle tractors have only 540 pto.
Brakes are hydraulic. Bleed screws are on top of the brake housing where there is a hole for access, you will see the brake pipe leading in there and the bleed screw is next to it.
The Hydraulic brakes are supposed to be self adjusting.
Hand brake is a band brake round the drum .

Thanks for the reply Dave but it would seem the vehicles are not the same.

This is a 1992 6245.

You mentioned that the hand brake was of a band type. When they took the tractor apart to replace the brake shoes, which looks like a clutch, there was no band.

He did mention a spindle which they had to remove to get the assembly apart.

There is an air tank on the lefthand side. looks the same as the brake tank you would find on a lorry, what is this for?

OOPS. Some 6245 in UK had the drum brakes, yours has the disc type. Still hydraulically operated but from a slave cylinder on the back of the axle under a plastic cover, removed by one bolt with a 10mm spanner. The bleed screw is 9mm spanner size and is situated on the slave cylinder on the opposite side to the one the pipe goes into. facing the wheel side. should have a small rubber cap.
The air cylinder only operates trailer brakes and also air assists the PTO clutch lever when the compressor is running, and allows the foot clutch to operate the PTO when it's pressed right down to the floor.
