Hey guys, last week I bought a used 6245 with 300hrs, from a small town that was selling surplus equipment.
Before buying the tractor I knew the clutch cylinder was not working, however the clutch itself is fine. From what I've read, this is a fairly common problem with these tractors. There is some minor rust on the plunger in the slave cylinder, which I assume is from the slave cylinder leaking.
My questions are:
1- Should I replace the cylinder or try to bleed it ?
2-Where do you bleed it & where do you fill the reservoir ?

The clutch and brakes share the same reservoir. It's located under the hood (bonnet?) on the right rear side.

You should be able to follow the hydraulic line to the cylinder in question and see the bleed valve just before the cylinder. Definitely try bleeding it before spending any money!

There's also the clutch master cylinder in front of the clutch pedal. I've had that go bad. It can be accessed by removing the plate (four bolts) that separates the cab from the motor.

If the master cylinder is bad you'll see brake fluid dripping out. If the slave cylinder is bad, the leaking fluid will be behind the rubber cover the rod goes through. Remove that from the cylinder and fluid will run out.

Thanks. I bled it yesterday afternoon & it is working fine. Will check for any signs of leaks this morning.
