Hi out there,
My uncle owns a zetor 6245. lately when running it it has been running very hot (near top end of green on temp gauge), when not even working (driving on the road not pulling anything) and it is not very warm out.(15 deg celcius) There is plenty of coolant, rad front has been cleaned so air flow through is good. I did notice that when I turn the lights on that the temp gauge jumps 40 deg. Thermostat was changed in past 2 years and head gaskets all re done about 3 yrs ago. What could be the problem. Any thoughts ideas are greatly appreciated!!!
thanks
Chris

thanks, I never even thought of that. I will look into it tonite!!!!!

If the fan belts ok, carefully check the wire leading to the sender. when its grounded it will show max temp, but a small crack or abrasion in the wire can give symptoms you describe if its rubbing against metal somewhere.

Maybe it is fitted with the fine mazed radiator like our 5245 was. It is too fine to let air on the one side, and water on the other, pass through. we boiled it over, causing burnt valves. I've reground the valves and changed the gaskets, and put the coarse mazed radiator of a 5718 we wrecked for parts, on it. I've also turned the fuel pump open for some extra horses, and yet it hasnt overheated again, even at 35 C summer temperatures.

But if the light switch has such an impact on the temp gauge, you might want to look into that first.

If it is the radiator, you can also have a new coolant block fitted in the original housing by a radiator specialist.
