DEAR ALL
am finding it very hard to disingage 4wd on our 7245 .
Will ingage no problem at all but when you pull up handle to disingage it wont lock up into place sometimes and then other times works ok.
What is prpoer procedure before ingaging should hi-low gear lever on floor be in neutral or does this matter .
have noticed that when tractor is turned off and left to cool off for a while 4wd seems to disingage ok then
Anyone any ideas?
tnanks in advance
Robert

With a 4WD tractor with unequal size wheels the fronts are always going slightly faster than the rear wheels. This can make disengaging 4wd tricky but unless there is mud underneath the cab stopping the lever from disengaging you normally just have to stop and reverse a few feet to disengage 4WD.More Modern designs(and Crystals!) with a hydraulic clutch on the front drive do not have this problem.
Also make sure the tyre pressures are correct as a wide variation between the front and back can cause the same problem.

Yes the 4wd lever wasn't the most beautiful solution... Sometimes it just vibrates into gear, when the lever unlocks because of vibrations..

When our 5245 doesn't disengage, i just rev up and down to get the strains off the driveline for a second, mostly this reduces the friction of the tooth clutch enough to pull the clutch out by the spring loaded lever.
