Possible Zetor Buyer
Hi all, I will start by saying that I have no experience whatsover with Zetor tractors. I grew up with MF and later Fords.
So, would an 8111 be a good buy? I would only be doing about 250hrs a year with it and they seem to offer much better value that MF's etc in the same price range.
Are they reliable?
TIA. :)

Zetor tractors are good solid workhorses & will do all tasks asked of them also they retain high residual values because they are relatively inexpensive to repair with low cost parts being available & simple to carry out repairs on. Parts are available from www.zetorworld.co.uk Buy your Zetor with confidence & enjoy the benefits

having have five 8111,my advice about this tractor would be to stay away from one with a 40km box, unless it was terrible well minded.Any of them nearly all have brake or torque trouble.Other than that they can be awsome.

UR1 and UR3 range built in Brno were just better....

Wrong Renze. Here in norway there runs a few crystals clocked more than 14000hours. Not much left from a ur 1 after that...

My brothers 6718 has close to 21.000hrs and is doing its last season... coming winter the engine will be rebuilt, because when it works hard, it smokes as hard out the exhaust as out the crankcase breather, and uses 2-3 liter of oil per day. Probably a piston ring fatigued, and broke last season.
It will need new heads as well as i dont expect there will be much of a valve seat left...
I rebuilt my 3011 at 11.000hrs because of poor starting in winter, but after opening it, the engine was in a remarkably good condition: you could only feel the piston wear with your fingernail, but not with your fingertop. the valves had worn down less than 0.5mm and the crank bearings were so good that i kept the new set on the shelf... anyways, after rebuilding it still started poor, then i went on looking and found it sucked air because a copper washer was missing on a fuel line on the backside of the pump.... I only noticed that the washer was missing when swapping the fuel pump (which was then my prime suspect for the poor starting) with a 4712: After putting in new washers, both tractors started great.

UR1 tractors dont live as long in Western Europe because they are livestock tractors, which make their days covered in shit, with very little maintenance.
The UR2 was an arable farm/contractors tractor, which is a user category that maintains the equipment because they earn their living with it. In Holland, when a tractor comes from an arable farm area, it is a strong selling point because it is way better maintained than a tractor from a cattle area.

And, ask Markku: he clocks over 800-1000hrs a year on his UR1....
