Hi!
I want to know if the front axles for the 4wd Zetors from 80s and 90s ( for example 77/7245, 6340...) were from UTB in Romania or were they made by Zetor themselves? I know they later switched to Carraro axles but I was wondering which were they using before.
Thanks for the answers!

Zetor 's own heavy all-wheel drive axles (6745, 5945, 6945, 6045, 7045, 6245, 7245, 7745 and early 6340 and 7340, as well as early 8540 and 9540):
This was a joint development with the Romanians. Did Zetor produce these in the Czech Republic, or did they even come from Slovakia (Stetex)?

I believe the joint development of these axles began with the development of the UR2 Crystal series and only affected the heavy Zetor axles with the cast star.

Zetor 5045:
This used an axle from SIGE, similar to what was used in Deutz tractors at the time.

The later Carraro axles:
Zetor purchased these completely.

Zetor UR1 and UR3 axles use 3011 satelite gears, part numbers are identical.

You can also mount UR2 portals on a UR1 axle, the kingpin bearings and their spacing are identical

Renault used the axle Zetor produced for the 3045 under some models.

I think the UR2 axles were produced by UTB with some off the shelf Zetor parts, just like UR1 axles were made in Brno with off the shelf satellites.

Only after the dismantling of the iron curtain, Stetex, Povaszke Strojarne, Crystal Agropoland started making spareparts, when these axles were no longer used on new tractors.

Light axle for 5245 and some 6245 were made by yugoslavian SOKO Transmisije d.o.o. MOSTAR.

So, production of front axles was already brought to Stetex just before the fall of the iron curtain ?

I have seen pictures of 70hp Fiat licensed UTB tractors with the UR2 front axle, built in the 70s.. apparently they just used the front axle they had in production, even when it was as strong as the tractors rear axle 😉

Was the 5045 model released by Zetor?
I heard it was 3rd party companies that took 5011's and rebuild them to 4wd using SIGE axels.
In Norway it was called 5011S
Not so popular model, as it is hard to find parts for the SIGE axels.

SIGE BREVETTI ING. COLOMBO - S.p.a. Sede in Vimercate (MI), via Trieste, 26 was purchased by DANA Corporation in 1994. Vimercate plant was closed by DANA in 1998/1999.

The 5045 was not built by Zetor itself; as far as I know, it was equipped with the SIGE axle by the importers in England and/or Italy (Sgorbati).
