Hi, posting this for my other half's Father.

As per the topic title, what could be the cause and or how to start working through to a fix?

Many thanks for any assistance

Is the problem happening when there's an implement on the back or not? because the assistor ram can hold them up when cold when no weight on the back, you would need to put weight on it to go down. Otherwise, under the seat there is a knob that controls the oil flow for the lift.

The valve sometimes gets stuck in its bore when hot oilis pumped through it for extended periods.

We used to unstick them by taking the pressure off, i.e. putting the lever down and then wheelieing, the short cut in pressure on the piston will cause the valve to pop loose so your tractors nose will plummet to the ground.
