So I found out why the copper is there from a friend of mine who restores old cars. I'm no electrical engineer so may not be explaining this right, and I still don't get why this application needs it....
Apparently when you have two dissimilar metals forming a contact it effectively creates a...
I may end up having to source via a dealer or have something made - just trying to avoid a delay if it's simple.
I guess worst case scenario is I just buy a steel bolt and try it!
I had some problems this past weekend with a lot of sparks from my starter motor. Turns out that the connectors for the battery and starter cable were rusted through and were shorting out. Unfortunately the nuts and bolt were also rusted through and I managed to shear it trying to remove.
The...
I'm doing this from memory as I am not close to the tractor today, but as I recall there are two bolts in the diff housing (other than the ones holding everything together)- one large one near the top and a smaller one about half way up (but close to the edge of the housing). Remove both and...
Not sure where you are, but in North America Quicke or Allied (Buhler) are popular. I have an Allied 594 on my 7245 - common and relatively cheap. As zetormatic suggests though, the mounting brackets may be tough to get - I know for my Allied it is a non standard kit - I ended up with that...
American Jawa was the US importer of Zetor tractors. The Zebra was licensed as a Zetor but I believe it was actually manufactured by HMT. It certainly isn't a Zetor factory model.
Sorry, can't comment on how good they are as I have no first hand experience.
The lever is right between your legs when you are sitting in the seat. It is actually a tube with the spare (presumably 1000 rpm) PTO shaft slid over it and then a grey heavy duty plastic cap over that.
The plastic cap has a piece sticking out of it which should be pointing left when the...
I'm a great believer in doing the simple stuff first - are you sure it is the alternator or regulator and not just that the battery isn't holding a charge?
Whenever I have had charging problems with car batteries in the past it has always been that the battery can no longer maintain the charge...
Well I have an update and am now even more confused. I haven't had a chance to investigate further as the tractor is outside and I haven't got to it until it has been dark the last few days, but last night I had to clear more snow, I lifted the 3pt and it just stayed exactly where it should -...
I don't think so Zetormatic. There are 3 positions - moving from front to back Draft, Mixture and Position. Draft is the ploughing setting that essentially moves the 3pt in relation to the tractor to try and keep the plough level. Position setting allows the height to be adjusted using the...
Does anyone know how the hydraulic safety valve works? I am having a problem with my 3pt hitch - it will lift fine, but will not remain in the raised position - it immediately drops until the mounted implement (skidding winch) is on the ground. The selector is in the P position, and everything...
I have to prime my 7245 pretty much every time I start it, even if it has only been sitting for a day or so, but not that much. Usually 1 or 2 times, no more than 4 if it has been sitting for a week - any more than that and I just get a lot of smoke.
Is the primer working properly - can you...
Hi all,
Does anyone know what the future is for Zetor in Canada. There are plenty of dealers around - at least here in Ontario, and the tractors are well known and trusted. I was therefore surprised that when I saw the list of exhibitors for the upcoming Canadian International Farm Equipment...
gw, I had a similar problem finding the button on my 7245 - simple answer is there isn't one - it's automatic. Now I just plug in the heater, prime it just before I turn it over and it fires up like a charm.
The only thing I did find was that the engine seemed to run at higher revs for an...
Smelly, not sure about the first part of your problem, but the second part of your post is how it should work. When the PTO selector is in neutral you can still lift or lower the rear end, but you won't have hydraulic power to the remotes. You said that you blow snow, so if your chute was...
Made in Brno, I'm not in UK (anymore), but getting a loader shouldn't be a problem - the hard part will be the mounting kit as Zetor is non-standard mounts (at least for North America - European style may be better). I can't believe that it is that hard to find a loader through an online site /...
Hi all, I started trying to figure out the electrical challenges on my 7245 on the weekend - I knew it wouldn't be fun on account of when I got the tractor there was a birds nest behind the dash :o
I figured out several things but would welcome some advice on some others:
1) Hour meter not...
Oh yes, the virtual cab - I'll remind myself of that every time I shovel snow off the seat this winter!!
Dominic, I'm in Ontario too - Perkinsfield on Georgian Bay (right in the lake effect snow shadow!!) north of Barrie, west of Midland / Penetanguishene.
