I encountered a problem a few days ago with my clutch. Went to use the tractor and the clutch pedal was on the floorboard. I checked the fluid and it was below the min. line so I added fluid. It still did not work, so I called my dealer who said it was probably the master cylinder ($106!). I took the old out installed the new and tried to bleed the line. The slave cylinder is very hard to get to and I ended up taking it off the clutch mount so I could open the bleeder. Now, after at least 30 pumps on the pedal as the manual says to do, still no clutch and still a lot of air coming out of the bleeder. Is there something I should do that the manual does not indicate?
I was about to change my hydraulic fliter when I encounter a posting from someone who said they attempted this but had at least 5 gal come out of the area (manual says have a 5 gal bucket ready to catch the fluid) in the process so he put it back on since he did not have another 5 gal bucket. Is this right? Do you need have a 20 gal container ready (since the hyd/trans holds 17 gal)? I don't want to have to replace 17 gal of 80W90 fluid. Also, is this right - 80W90 in the trans and hydraulics, or should it be hydraulic fluid? ???
