4341.1 Clutch and transmission

I encountered a problem a few days ago with my clutch. Went to use the tractor and the clutch pedal was on the floorboard. I checked the fluid and it was below the min. line so I added fluid. It still did not work, so I called my dealer who said it was probably the master cylinder ($106!). I took the old out installed the new and tried to bleed the line. The slave cylinder is very hard to get to and I ended up taking it off the clutch mount so I could open the bleeder. Now, after at least 30 pumps on the pedal as the manual says to do, still no clutch and still a lot of air coming out of the bleeder. Is there something I should do that the manual does not indicate?

I was about to change my hydraulic fliter when I encounter a posting from someone who said they attempted this but had at least 5 gal come out of the area (manual says have a 5 gal bucket ready to catch the fluid) in the process so he put it back on since he did not have another 5 gal bucket. Is this right? Do you need have a 20 gal container ready (since the hyd/trans holds 17 gal)? I don't want to have to replace 17 gal of 80W90 fluid. Also, is this right - 80W90 in the trans and hydraulics, or should it be hydraulic fluid? ???

I'm affraid I can't help you, but...

I'm seriously considering buying a 4341 w/ cab and loader, but I'm concerned reading your posting. How new (yrs/hrs) is your machine? I've not a problem like yours on my IH584 that I'm looking to replace - and it's 25 yrs old with 3100 hrs.

Would appreciate any thoughts or commants on your experience as a Zetor owner.

Thanks,
Jim in NH

Those master and slave cylinder are being a problem, but 4341 has better quality cylinders than what older models had. It is no problem if you know what you are doing, replacing repairing kit to mastercylinder takes 0.5 hour and to slave cylinder it takes 15 minutes. Bleeding is very easy and fast to do (clutch) your own and for brakes you need assistant. (9 mm wrench ;) )

Filter changing... Im not sure what filter (suction, return flow filter) you are changing but that is not any problem when you do it each time you change oils too. Once for 1200 eng hours is my own experience. Official recommendation for this is 1000 hours or 1 a year.

Transmission oil SAE 80W-90 API GL-4 is right oil for this purpose. For example Mobilube 80W-90, Esso torquefluid 56, Esso Gear Oil TDL 75W-90, Mobil Agri Super 10W-30 or Mobil Agri Extra 10W-40.

If we leave out repairs those are done as quarantee my first bigger problem with my Zetors came 1 mounth ago. Mine 7745 (12000 hours, year 1990) did break its PTO axial bearing :(

We are splitting and repairing it at next weekend.
