Hi guys,

So I bought a 5211 about 10 months ago and although it was a little overpriced and scruffy it seemed to be a good runner and because it was only 5km away from my yard I decided to buy it. After getting it home and having a run about in it it became aparent that there was something not quite right with the clutch, it became spongey and changing gears or returning to neutral became much more difficult. After deciding it was a problem for another day i parked he in the shed and forgot about it untill i decided it was time to bring her into service.

Well by that point the cluthch pedal was sunken totally to the floor. I asked at the company where i bought her and the mechanic then told me it was because the tractor leaked clutch/ break fluid through a seal inside the clutch housing but it wasnt a problem because the driver had always just topped up the clutch/ break fluid every day and it wasnt a problem for him,

Obviously it is a problem for me which i intend to put right, i have been putting of this job for too long now and the old girl i needed for the log splitter. Basically I am very unfamiliar with zetor mechanics has anybody any idea what seal this may be and how difficult the splitting of the tractor and replacement of said seal could be? What should I look out for what should i be sure to do any tipps or tricks are sincearly welcome.
thanks in advance

there is no seal inside bell housing. no need to split tractor, the main cylinder is inside the Dashboard behind the clutch pedal and the slave cylinder is on the side of bellhousing on tractors lh side behind battery compartment. you get accsess to main cylinder by removing a plate between engine and cab it has four screws one in each corner. then just follow the hose from the main cylinder to the slave cylinder. good Luck :)

Well that sounds like a lot smaller taks thank god! Im going to have a good look at her in the light on monday and see if I can locate the seal. Now you mention it though there is an oily liquid around the clutch pedal (comming from behinde the dash) so it shouldnt be too difficult to locate. I also have the origional spare parts/ workshop manual which should make things clearer now i know what im looking for :) Thank you for the reply I will let you know how I get on in the week

Ok I have stripped down the pannels I have the clutch pedal off and I am about to remove the master cylinder (which i am almost 99.9% certain is the problem) the only thing is the master cylinder what I see on my tractor is nothing like that in the spare parts list. Somehow that on my tractor seems to be allot bigger.

It seems that the fluid is leaking through where the push rod goes into the cylinder. But I will know more when I get it off in a minute. My question is, is it worth trying to just replace the o-ring or do i buy a whole new master cylinder also where do you guy buy parts? We have no dealer here for hours so it would be nice to find a trustworthy online parts service, any ideas?

I am not sure i think if i just replaced the o-ring and still had trouble afterwards i would be very angry at having to strip it down again.

Im not in north america but i do know that they have suppliers there that will ship, hopefully someone else chimes in. if i recal correctly the whole master cylinder was only about twice as much as the rebuild kit, so i replaced mine out right. here is a link of where i got mine http://shop.markomt.sk/scripts/podrobnosti.php?IDZ=2008. Of course if the cylinder isnt scored than you can get away with just chinging the seal that can be matched at your local rubber store. good luck, and for what its worth this was a neat little tractor, we have both a 5211 and 5245 that are still working on the farm.

You have found Your problem Source. Buy a New Complete cylinder dont bother With a o ring change it will only work a short period of time. parts dealer i cant help you With.

Thank you both for the help guys I just ordered a new cylinder. After searching for repair kits they were in some cases the same price as a new cylinder. Eventunally found a company on Ebay who specialise in Zetor parts that is only an hour or so away from where I live. Another bonus is they will take the part back if its the wrong one. Although I checked the part number against the parts catolouge so it should be fine.

The cylinder cost just under 30 euros and shipping is free of charge. If anybody is interested in checking them out they are on Ebay under the name of lt-ersatzteile and they seem to stock a very large amount of parts for all kinds of zetor tractors. They are based in Leipzig Germany but ship worldwide.
