I can't get the park brake lever or the PTO disengage lever to move so I suppose the cables are frozen up. I see adjustment only on left side of the tractor for the park brake... Looks like brake cable goes forward and connects to an arm hanging out of the side of a gearbox(?) just forward of the left rear wheel..Any explanation of how this works is appreciated But I guess first question needs to be how to remove the levers so the cables can be freed up or replaced..Please help ..Thank You

Determined that cable for park brake is free but can't pull the lever, I have button on end of lever pushed while trying to pull it.I can pull the park lever about an inch and it stops= then pull on the other end of the cable in front of the left tire and I can pull the handle back down-this is how I know the cable seems free. What and how do I check next?? Thanks

Hi
Try to ratle the rods that goes from the shaft that goes tru the gearbox and back to the brakes, if they are tense the problem is in the brake itself and you shold be able to corekt it by losening the adjusment on topp of the rearend housing, if they are slak meybe the shaft tru the gearbox is sesed upp.

Cross shaft was seized. got it free but can't get brake adjusted.. How do you know if it is adjusted correctly? Is it correct that have only an adjuster on the left side near the rear axle and none on the right? I don't see one.. Can go to third click of the lever but not fourth no matter how I adjust it.(using the adjuster on the left side) Only adjuster I see.. Info please. Thanks

I see now in the book it says remove the hydraulic lever cover on the right side to get to the right side adjustment..Maybe rt side is too tight so that the lever cannot be pulled to the fourth notch..

With a flashlight I see the rt side adjuster through the rubber plugged hole located by the seat on the rt side..Looks like removing the hydraulic lever cover might be a pain to do..hope I'm overlooking something..If I can get to the right side adjuster I might just make sure it is loose and leave it alone.

No, the lever cover is easy to remove. Just pull off knobs on 3 levers, and remove the 13mm nuts holding the cover down. Then it is pretty easy to get in there to adjust the RH side park brake adjuster rod.

Sounds to me like your cable may be seized. I know you said that you can move the lever a bit, but if it seized when the park brake was applied, the outer cover of the cable would have moved with the inner when the park brake was released.

You also need to ensure the two spring canister things on the park brake rods on either side of the gearbox are clean and free to compress. These are important for proper function of the park brake, as first two clicks should be applying the park brake, while the next two clicks should be compressing these springs. They also balance out the two park brakes, to allow for any difference in adjustment between the two.

Skin, Thanks--Relatively certain that the cables are moving freely inside the cable outer cover. Got 5 of the six 13mm nuts off but other one was under the hydraulic lever lower stop knob and I could not get the knob loose to get it out of the way..Ran out of time, got aggravated and quit messing with it. Not too sure of what I need to do when I do get the cover off.Adjudter on the left side seems loose-I am expecting to find the right side really tight..At this point the park brake lever will pull but still does not release all the way. I can reach in by the muffler and help it a little and it releases..Had both cables loose on the bottom yesterday-sprayed bunch of penetrating oil on both ends of the shaft and worked it back and forth numerous times. Tgought I had it pretty free. Will check the spring cannister things for free movement. Thanks again-any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

Checked the spring loaded cannister(shock absorber looking thing) one had a lump of rust or paint hanging on the shaft so that it probably was not compressing. I cleaned all that off and sprayed everywhere I could with penetrating oil. I guess the only way to know they move free is to disconnect the front end of the rod and manually try to compress the rod.Any suggestions? Thanks
