Hi,
I've got a 7211 and the clutch is slipping in her. I looked into the side of her behind the battery box and I believe the fingers for engaging the push bearing are worn down and need to be replaced but am unsure if this is the problem. I will not send it to a garage. Any Suggestiuons. Also does anyone have a Engineering/workshop manual to Spare or Photocopy. Would be most helpful.
Thanks
Richie

You'r clutch friction plate is worn out;) what do you mean by clutch slipping? if it engages gears the toggle levers are ok;) its not easy fitting a clutch without proper tools:( you need a setting tool or you will never get the tractor back together:sneaky: and you need a splitting trolley:sneaky: so you need to take it to the garage;) ok you can do it on a small tractor like 4011 but 7211 needs proper tools and workshop or you will injure yourself trying to save money:-x

We have split several Zetors.

Make sure you slam some solid wooden wedges on both sides of the front axle to block the pivot from falling the engine sideways.
Use a strong hydraulic jack on wheels and slide a piece of sheetmetal underneath to keep those small wheels from stucking in the grooves of your shop floor. work with 3 people, 2 pushing on the front wheels and 1 pulling the jack, to make it as gentle as possible.

When putting it back together, put something like a big log underneath to make sure it cant fall deep when it falls off the jack when you try to wobble the flanges and shafts back into place. When the re attachment doesnt slide in easy, use a wrench to turn the pto shaft, to put the PTO clutch shaft splines in line. You can align the main transmission driveshaft too when you engage ground speed PTO, make sure the high/low lever is in neutral to prevent the wheels of the back end turning.

It just takes a wobble, and the more you hurry, the longer it takes. When you think it will take all evening and keep patient, it will slide in in 5 minutes. When ya reckon it will take 5 minutes like the last time and lose patience, you'll be busy all evening ;)

Thanks for your help lads. The Mechanic quoted a grand to do the job. I only bought it for 25 hundred. Its just I don't have that to spare you know. Although i do have most of the gear necessary. :D
I am meaning to post up the pictures i too just to get a second opinion.

1000 QUID:mad: thats a rip off:mad: I know mecanics who will fit pto clutch packs in john deeres for less than that!! I would do it for 100quid labour and the clutch would be 250 at the most!!! whats the other 650 for???? You should get rid of that mecanic!!!;)

The mechanic wants you to trade it for something else, so he can free up his yard, buy your 7211 cheap, fix it and make money on it...

When i had an electrical short circuiting (cable fire) in my car, we brought it to a dealer because i needed it to drive to work and didnt had time to fix it. My brother who towed me there, asked if he had any used cars for sale in the 5 to 7000 Euro price range. Later that day the dealer called me and said 500 euro would be nothing, for a repair like this. which was quite some for an old car.
I decided to buy an old Ford Sierra for 300 Euro, which i drove for about 2 months untill the certificate of roadworthiness was expired, and the car went to the junkyard. In the meantime, fixing the Volvo cost me 2 hours of work, 5 euro for some wires and connectors and isolating tape, and i could replace the toasted battery with the one i kept from that old Ford Sierra.

I told my brother right away that the dealer tagged the repair costs way to high because my brother lead him to believe i would easily buy an 8000 Euro car of him...

You can replace a clutch with 2 people in 1 day. On a non-cabbed, non powersteering model it can be done in a 4 to 5 hour monday evening.

Renze, you could have taken the wires off the sierra as well69) you silly boy;)

Thats Mechanics for ya. A complete rip off. Your probally right that he wants us to trade it in against another machine. Thats for all the info.
