This might sound like a dumb question, but I don't have access to an operator's manual . Can someone explain the function of the controls for the 3 point lift? I know which lever makes it raise and lower, but what does the shorter lever on it's left do? Also, there are remmnants of a control on top of the lift housing, but no linkage hooked to it. The workshop manual shows a small lever hooked to it by rods and balljoints. What is it's function?
The problem the owner is having is keeping the lift arms in position while running a rotary cutter (bush hog). He says the arms will drop randomly and have to be corrected, but sometimes they raise unexpectedly. This tractor has been used and abused, but is in generally good condition. I hope there is some adjustment for sensitivity in the hitch. I believe the lift cylinder is in pretty good shape, as the hitch will stay up for a while after the engine is stopped, and will only fall slowly (probably stay up for an hour or more).
I guess what I'm hoping is that there is a control such as Deere has that will allow the operator to select either draft or position control, or a compromise in between. Any help will be appreciated.
