i have a 2000 model 7341 4wd with the rh side rear brake hanging.in fact it stops the tractor when in neutral wat is wrong? i have bled the brakes but no sure were to go next
i have checked the master cylinders and i am not loing any fluid. i replaced the left master cylinder due to a leak the previous year and that brake works well. the right was just starting to hang some i think. its worked better on the right for years. could it be possible the fluid is not returning to the master cylinder. my manual shows the rod adustment from the pedal but that is all. any info would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know much about 7341's but if it has disc brakes, the caliper could be rusted/full of crud which would keep the pads from moving away from the disc. If the brakes are bands or shoes, there should be spring(s) to retract. Good luck!
Make sure you have a little play at the pedal to ensure the master cylinder is returning fully.
If this is okay you need to check if the wheel cylinder is siezing or rusting. There are 2 types, the earlier type was part of the casting under the linkage and is prone to water getting in and rusting it badly. The later type is a separate little cylinder under a plastic cover but still prone to rusting. The pins on the linkage sieze as well. Be careful not to twist the pipe off when you undo it. It will be much easier to access the assembly if you remove the wheel. They are not the nicest things to get to !! Don't adjust it too tightly when you finish as they will come on when you're going down the road.
7341 has wet disk brakes... so its not likely to be the disk that is stuck.... check that the master cylinder is returning fully.... also check that its not the handbrake thats hanging on the one side.... try to take acouple of turns of the handbrake adjustment and see if that fixes it.
