I have just purchased a 8045 as a parts tractor to combine with my 8011 but I'm a little confused the number on the bonnet obviously says 8045 but the rest looks like an 8145 I looked at awhile ago by that I mean the change in paint from cream to the almost black and lots of little things like the guard on the air pump the power steering container a few pipes going ininto the bellhousing are in slightly different spots and the floor seems lower like my 8011 the fill/dipstick level is below the floor this one is level with the floor and also the engine dipstick is in a different location and screw in?

Was there a change in design in that model before the change to 8145 or is it possible it's aactually labeled wrong?

I know that the latest models of 8045 had the same engine as the 8145,the engine whit Balance shafts, 8401.134

8045 chassis was painted black in Martin since 1981. Somewhere the front part of the bonnet sloped down a bit too.

The bonnet is just flat, just has a lot of features that a 8145 I looked at once also had that my 8011 doesn't

In 1984, I think, the 8011 was in the process of being updated to 8111, and some tractors came out with the balanced engine, easily identified by the position of the dipstick and the position of the PS tank, but still had the flat bonnet. the gearbox dipstick holder should have had an short extention tube to bring it up to floor level though from mid 70's

Ahhh I see well I can't have another look untill the truck brings it home but I do remember the engine dipstick being both in a different spot and also being screw in, which in my first suspicions indicated it was a transition model, will be interesting to try get it started to hear of there's a difference side by side with the engine

Now I have the tractor in my possession I have noticed that this one also has a oil fed injector pump

That's another feature of the balanced engine, but be warned , the pumps won't swap with the older ones, the drive splines are different

Bugger, here I thought I would be able to keep the older one as a spare cause they look visually the same, but at least I'm pretty confident that it has the balanced engine, can't wait to have a go at starting it this weekend
