Hi

I have new alternator for my 1989 6245. But it has a regulator on it. My old alternator does not have regulator, instead the regulator is in with the electrics inn the cab. Can I just disconnect the regulator on the new alternator and use this new one?

thanks

Yes, you cant use two regulators so you have to use the built in.
I am not sure about the proper way to install them though, electrics isnt my thing.

I think they were factory fitted with Magneton alternators, PAL made other stuff.

If you have a (voltage) regulator on it - you have a dynamo!

All modern alternator have the rectifier (ac/dc bridge) built in.

On our 5245 when we got it, there was an alternator with an external rectifier. You cant get it as a spare part, only the replacement from Magneton with a built in rectifier, as you say.
