I am putting log splitter on my 6011 1983 year where can i feed the h/oil back in ??? any ideas please I am a tractor virgin !!! also after workshop manual to purchase can any one help please

There should be a suitable plug hole on the top cover on the diff or transmission, however i am yet to find it on my 6745, (but then i have only had it for ~2 weeks)
however on mine the prevous owner just drilled a large hole in the gear stick housing (easily removed with 4 bolts) and brazed a 3/4" hose nipple into it for a return line for the (now missing) front mounted bull blade............ so that is always an option :)

Hi,

You should have 2 pipes at the rear of your tractor so you can use the second for a return. If it's not there there is a plug on the top hydraulic casting beside the first pipe. Alternatively you can rig a return connection into the drain bung on the underside of the gearbox.

My understanding (not having a copy of the user manual yet) of the two pipes on the back of the tractor is one is under pressure when the (external circuit leaver is forward and the other one is under pressure when the valve is back, so perfect for a double acting ram, such as a rear loader or hydraulic top link, (or a log splitter if you want to split wood sitting on the drivers seat lol) but i am not sure if this would be a good idea to use either of these as a return line from an externally mounted spool valve, you want a non valved and non restricted return into the main transmission or diff casing (as these are all conected internally on the Zetor (but not on a Ford!)
ideally on the top (or at least well above oil level) then there is no worry about oil leaking out whan you remove the log splitter :)

there is no problem in using the double acting valve with a log splitter. i have used it for years and there is no problem at all. just hook it up and tie the lever in the backvard position for constant pumping, and split logs nei hell :)
