Hi! I have a problem with diesel in the engine oil, on my local aeroclub's Zetor 8011 crystal. We did recognize there was an problem, when black oil thin as water filled the oilsump, and low oil pressure. Then we changed the oil, the pressure came up to normal levels for about 6 hours of use. Then changed once more and after 1 hour of work it was aprox 6 liters more oil in the sump. What are the reason for this?

Thanks! :)

Probably the fuel lift pump. You don't say what age the tractor is, later tractors had the injector pump pressure lubricated from the engine, look and see if there is a small oil pipe from the block to the pump, if there is then your diesel in the oil is either from the lift pump which is most likely, or a worn out injector pump. judging by the amount of diesel so quickly I would be suprised if it was a faulty injector, but thats your other option.

It has the old pump with self contained oil, there is no oil line from the engine. I think it is a 78 model. Will find out tomorrow...

Assuming the same setup as my UR1, Could be the front seal on the injector pump leaking back into the crankcase (under the compressor)

I cannot see what else it could be to leak that much diesel in such a short time, however it will leak all the time if the front seal, not just when it is running.

Do let us know the answer!

Steve's theory is probably correct, to make sure, remove the drain plug under the pump and see if neat diesel comes out. if it does and not oil, then start tractor with plug removed and see if diesel runs out. if it does then its still most likely that the lift pump is at fault. They are B.....rs to remove because of the bolt position, but not very expensive. If you have an electric pump lying around you could bypass the tractor lift pump to check it. If it still leaks you will have to get your injector Pump reconditioned.
8011's will run OK by gravity without their lift pumps but only if the filters are relatively new. dont forget to replace plug and refill with engine oil before working !
