had the tractor for 6 years - very difficult in cold starting
I have reconditioned injectors, injector pump, changed pistons & liners

Changed all fuel lines, changed compessor/pump shaft, checked timing

All OK!
Any ideas - Help !!

We need more info to diagnose what's wrong e.g. what condition is the battery in, electrical connections to starter, starter itself, colour of smoke......

All diesels rely on a good cranking speed for starting from cold. Auto-ignition in a cold cylinder is very difficult, even with the air/fuel mixture warmed by glow plugs, and will be assured only with the high compression that an efficient battery and starter motor can deliver.

air in the fuel .... have you replaced the fuel hoses ? ALL of them ??

Sometimes can be mysterical problems.

Like mine 6245 had few mounths ago.

Factory has forgot to drill a leak hole to bottom of exhaust pipe....

It was rained and then came cold weather. Water freezed exhaust pipe, and it didnt start at all!

I checked all i could at forest. Hoses, changed fuel supply pump, checked nozzles etch. Nothing wasnt wrong.

I called to Zetor specialist who doubt it must be a compressor shaft, but i wasnt agree, i doubt timing gears myself.

A second before i was going to winch it on the trailer to move it to workshop, i noticed that there is no hole at the exhaust!!! Then i knew what is the problem and i took heat blower ;)

Few seconds heating and then i started it. Huge water cloud flew out from exhaust and engine was ticking like a watch made in switcherland.

And i was shaming my own stupidness, it was the same trick me made least to 100 cars when we were kids. Snow and ice to exhaust and neighbour farmer was wondering why his car wont start....

When you are cranking the engine is there white smoke coming from the exhaust ?
If there is then the previous posts are revelant.

If not the engine is not getting fuel , so the first thing to do is pump the fuel up with the hand pump, and KEEP pumping for several seconds after you think the fuel is there, then try again.if the engine starts but seems"lumpy" for a minute or so then you have an air leak either on the pipes leading to the pump or on the return pipe. if you cant find a leak then your best option is to either pump up by hand on first start up or fit an electric pump on the fuel line.
