Mower Size for 3320

We live in South Louisiana where the land is flat and the vegetation gets very thick.

I have a 3320 - a fabulous tractor that does everything a tractor should. We have about 55 acres that I mow a couple of times a year. The pastures are clean and flat but the grass and brush can get really thick.

Our 6 foot (180 CM) Bush Hog Squeeler gearbox is about to die. The deck is in pretty rough shape as well so it looks like a replacement is in order. Is it recommended to stay with this size rotary mower or could I safely go up to a 7 foot (210 CM) mower?

we use our neighbors brush cutter to cut pastures after horse grazing. the brushes of old grass are sometimes 15 cm tall , and the machine width is 275 cm. Tractor is a 5245, with the same engine as your 3320

If you are talking about mowing a tall forage cut, a 210 cm mower with crimper would be plenty of work for a 3320. Without crimper it shouldn't be a problem.

I have a 3321 that is about the same hp. I pull an 8 ft. bush hog with mine. I mow in 2nd gear in high range. If the grass gets really tall I shift to 4th or 5th gear in low range. No problems whatsoever. Central Kentucky and fairly level land.

Hey sha...I am from Kaplan, Louisiana (Vermillion parrish) and am now transplanted in Virginia. I've got about 30 acres and have bushhogged both pastures and woods easily w/a 7 footer. Your 3320 is the same in comparison (weight, engine displacement, tire size etc.) to my grandfather 5011 and you should easily handle the extra foot. I agree that you should do this in 2nd gear and quite possibly 3rd. I wouldn't suggest going as high as 4th or 5th unless you are very level and sure that you won't hit any possum/armidillo traps .

Seriously, if your grandfather wants to see the front end loader we built for our 3320 let me know. We used mostly scrap from Thibodeaux's at the Port of Iberia. My fabricator/welder lives in Coteau. In the end we probably didn't save much money but the quality is extrordinarily good. Even better than that available from Zetor (which is a very high quality front end loader).

How far did you extend the subframe of that loader ? I bought a cheap loader for 425 euro and i'm building my own super duty subframe, extended all the way to the rear axle, for super stability...
