Hi,
I have a 6320 Zetor that has less than 1000hrs on it. It was bought in 97 new and stored inside a barn when not in use. This year we have had some problems with both the clutch and brakes. The dealer for our area has informed us that it would cost $3000 just in parts to replace the clutch disks and brakes. We figure another $2000 for labor. There are also some seals around the hydrolic oil reservoir that are going bad also, leaking hydrolic oil. We figure the tractor is not worth more than 5000-6000 with the faulty brakes and clutch. Is it worth spending the money and repairing the tractor? Thanks

Lucas

The prices for the clutch disks and brakes seems to be high in your area. I can buy i.e. a complete clutch plate incl disks for about 800 usd. Just the two disks is about 250 usd.
Is really the clutch worn out after less than 1000 hours? Can you describe your problem a bit more.
Is the breaks drum or disk types and is the break effect weak or non?

What are the problems, clutch plates binding because they rust together ? depress the pedal, tie to tree, and break it loose. Your problem cant be wear, standstill is a more probable cause.

Yes, almost impossible to wear out a clutch or brake in just 1000hrs.
make sure to tie it to a very big tree! and use high ratio, keep your foot on the clutch until it stops wheel spinning ;)
sometimes just revving the snot out of it in neutral with the clutch depressed is enough to loosen the rust on the plate.

Also is it the clutch that is stuck, or just the hydraulic cylinders (master and or slave)
if the clutch cylinders stick they can cause a good clutch to slip as they will not fully release, a partially blocked hose will have the same effect and is more common than you would think.

either way parts for Zetors are generally cheap, especially in Europe and USA

The clutch and the brakes (dry disk) work just fine right now. (I have replaced both the master and slave cylinders for the clutch along with the supply line from the reservoir and it seems to work fine right now). Our local dealer has told us that they are on the verge of going out. The axial seal is going bad also. We have a constant leak of hydrolic oil under the tractor. They fixed the brakes but claim that it is a temporary fix.

Before we took it in the clutch would make a noise when depressed and the upon releasing the clutch (slowly) the tractor would lurch forward as if I released the clutch quickly. The brakes wouldn't grab until the brake pedals were pressed all the way down. After the repair the brakes seem to work really good and so does the clutch, though it still did the lurch upon slowly releasing the clutch. The clutch then quit working again, but that was because the master cylinder was leaking and needed to be replaced. The dealer said that it would be prudent to replace the slave cylinder also (there are two styles of slave cylinders the old and the new, ours is the old style), $98 a pop. When I replaced both the master and slave cylinders the clutch wouldn't work (at this point the tractor had set idle for 2 months). We got it to work the first time by engaging the PTO. The next day it didn't work again and the PTO trick didn't work. My dad drove it for 30 minutes and the clutch started to work again. It hasn't stuck since then. After talking with the dealer they think that we may have oil in the clutch which is causing the plates to stick together when the tractor sits idle. Oil can also cause the clutch to start slipping, hence the reason the clutch assembly needs to be replaced.

We know that our dealer is marking the parts up significantly :(. He is the only dealer for the entire state of Missouri.

My concern is we live on very hilly land and I don't want to be caught on a hill with two round bales and no brakes or clutch!

I have looked at the possibility of doing the repair myself, but the task looks daunting and I don't have a flat and smooth concrete barn floor.

The only thing the tractor has been used for is haying, moving hay, and moving some dirt out of a dry pond. The rest of the time it sits in a barn.

All advise is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Lucas

Hello,

Sorry for the off topic, but...

I just wonder about the prices of spare parts, which have been mentioned here. Are the parts prices overseas really that high?

Today I was shopping in the Czech Republic spare parts for my 5011. 14.0 euro for the clutch disc and 200 euro for the flywheel with starter gear ... new parts and from regular Zetor dealer ...

I think I would be going somewhere other than the dealer! It's not a warranty issue so anyone can do the job. Perhaps ask around locally for a mobile tractor mechanic that will visit you? I suspect the brake issue will be hydraulic as well, if it reoccurs replace the master cylinders and think about doing the slaves.
I think it is more than likely rust due to lack of use causing the clutch to stick rather than oil as it seems to be a common problem with Zetors.
When you say leaking hydraulic fluid do you mean brake fluid or oil from the gearbox?

The oil is not brake fluid it is hydrolic oil that is leaking out from underneath the tractor from the two smooth holes that go into the gear box ( I am assuming that is the gear box).

I am buying from ATP Motors in Czech Republic who are shipping to Sweden. The shipping time is about 10 days but prices is very very good. Anybody knows any other dealer shipping outside Czech Republic and with an English web side??
Sorry not keeping strict to the topic!

This is maybe an answer mostly to Hazze but of course anyone can use this information.
You can call or send mail to Motocheck in swedish part of Finland. You can use swedish or maybe also english, he can make delivery of spareparts and he also know a lot of Zetor and problems that the there can be.
