hello zetor fans worldwide , as you may already know we are currently restoring our 5511 and it has now come to the stage where tyres have to be purchased for the rear , now at the minute she boasts 12.9R28's which are way past their sell by date and very very skimpy under the new mudguards that we have fitted , also she is painfully slow on the road with these miniscule tyres fitted ,, we have brand new tyres fitted to the front but cant really justify forking out way over 1000 for new rear tyres just to sit pretty in the shed and go to the odd show , so ive been trying to find a good second hand set ( preferably barum's ) and i thought we might try a set of 16.9R28's under her to fill out the arches so to speak and leave her a wee bit faster on the road also ,

my question to you is will 16.9R30's fit under the mudguards or has this been unheard of and frowned upon ????????????

i have sourced a set of secondhand rims and tyres size 16.9 R 30 that came off a 6911 i think and they have at least 85% tread left on the tyres which are barums but i dont want to take a chance and buy them and find out that they wont fit .

any info or opinions about this topic will be welcomed greatly ,

regards terry .

the massey is classy but the zetor is better .

I had 16.9R30 Michelin X-Bib under my 5511, traded the 5511 for a 5718 because i needed powersteering for a loader, and those tires make the 5718 pull a heavy cultivator equally to a 5245 with Vredestein cross ply on the rear axle (and 11.4R24 Taurus radials on the front)

Originally the 5511 was often sold with 12.4-32 (oops i mean 36, the three cylinders were sold on 32") which were the same height as 16.9-30

well i shoe-horned the 16.9/30's on to her this week and they really make a job of her , got her totally finished today and took a few snaps , we are really pleased with how she came out and she travels lovely on the road to which is an added bonus .:p:p

few pics ,

So yours came with powersteering... it was first offered on the 5511 as an option... :)

hi renze , funny enough from what we can gather from the previous owner it did not have power steering so they retro fitted one from a 6911 i think , we have subsequently removed it as there was a lot of play and " slop " in the front end and with the removal of the power steering , a new center pin and bushes and new track rod ends the steering is like new now .

our next project is a 5611 which has the larger cab and power steering from new , its a one owner with only 1200 hrs on the clock , sadly the old man that owned it didnt belkiev in parking it in the shed ( in case it went on fire ) !!!!! so he used to park it under a tree and when he died that's where it lay for over 20 years , when we bought we were led to believe that the back end and the engine had seized , when we got it home i discovered that the handbrake bands had siezed to the brake drums so i released them and gave her a tow on concrete and hey presto she freed out , we then removed the injectors and filled the cylinders with WD40 and left them overnight , next day we gave her a gentle tow and she freed out also , so back in with the injectors and a fresh drop of diesel and away she went , going like a bird too , here are a few snaps .
